Description
My 71-year-old mother was admitted to the hospital in 2018 for knee replacement surgery. During and in the days following the operation, she suffered severe blood loss, which was not replenished in time. This led to oxygen deprivation and, as a result, she also suffered a stroke. Since then, my mother has been living with aphasia: she has lost her ability to speak and communicate, and her mobility is also severely limited. The photo where she is picking roses was taken back in 2022 – sadly, her condition has been deteriorating ever since. She now lives with a catheter and requires full-time care. She can no longer eat or drink independently.
My father is 72 years old and cares for her at home with extraordinary love and strength. He feeds her, gives her drinks, takes her for walks, tends to her hygiene daily, and takes her to the doctor almost every week. At night, he often has to wake up several times to help her. All of this he tries to manage on a small pension, but what makes it even harder is that he himself suffered a serious heart attack years ago and now lives with multiple medications and frequent weakness.
I work in Budapest while they live in Szentes (Hungary). I travel home and help as much as I can, but sadly, I cannot always be there for them. That’s why I want to ease my father’s burden by hiring a professional caregiver for 7 hours a week.
The amount we are asking for would cover the cost of this care for one year. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to ensuring my father doesn’t have to carry this enormous responsibility alone, and my mother can receive the best care we can provide.
Thank you for your help. ❤️
