My name is Hadja Aïsatou Diallo. I am a nurse and have lived with sickle cell anaemia all my life.

I set up the H. Djidja Foundation with one aim in mind: to help improve screening, prevention, awareness and access to care for people affected by sickle cell disease, diabetes and rheumatic diseases, particularly in Guinea.

🏥 A MAJOR PROJECT: A 300- TO 500-BED MEDICAL CENTRE

Our major project is the creation in Guinea of a modern National Referral Medical Centre, with a planned capacity of 300 to 500 beds.

One of the centre’s main objectives will be to develop screening, diagnosis, prevention, monitoring and patient care, with a particular focus on sickle cell disease, diabetes and rheumatic diseases.

We also aim to run awareness and screening campaigns, provide information and support to patients and their families, contribute to training, and forge partnerships with healthcare professionals and organisations in Belgium, Guinea and internationally.

❤️ WHY THIS MISSION IS CLOSE TO MY HEART

As someone who has sickle cell anaemia myself and works in the healthcare sector, I am personally familiar with some of the difficulties patients may face.

I have decided to turn this experience into a strength and a concrete project to help other people and their families.

🇧🇪 24 OCTOBER 2026: PRESENTATION AND FUNDRAISING EVENT

On Saturday 24 October 2026 at 5.00 pm, the H. Djidja Foundation will organise an official presentation and fundraising event in Aalst.

This event will provide an opportunity to present our Foundation, our medical centre project and our awareness-raising initiatives to healthcare professionals, organisations, institutions, partners and members of the public.

🎯 FUNDRAISING TARGET: €500,000

The €500,000 represents an initial funding stage and does not cover the total cost required for the construction and operation of the future medical centre.

The funds raised will contribute in particular to the studies and preparation of the medical centre project, the initial stages of its implementation, and the development of awareness-raising, prevention and screening campaigns.

The €500,000 target therefore constitutes an initial phase of fundraising to make tangible progress on this large-scale project.
