A home for children and adolescents who are temporarily out of their own families.

I am Katrien, 39 years old and single. Helping children and young people grow is my passion. I did this for 15 years in education, both secondary and primary. As a Dutch teacher, but also briefly as a pupil supervisor in a care team. The common thread in all my encounters with children and young people: their well-being and growth always comes first. It is abundantly clear that children need lighthouses: people they can rely on, with whom they feel safe and can go to with all their questions, doubts, difficult moments and successes.

That is why I very much want to become a family houseparent: that means caring full-time for three children for whom staying at home is temporarily no longer possible. For this, I need to look for a house with at least four bedrooms, quietly located and preferably with enough land to keep some animals as well. Animals give unconditional love, they can be an outlet for children to regain some fortitude and they are also fantastic helpers in difficult conversations.

But that costs money. I hope you will figuratively do your bit to make my lighthouse house a reality!
