I am 28, caring for my disabled parents, and losing my smile
Description
Introduction
I never thought that at 28 years old, I would have to share my family’s struggles publicly and ask for financial help. For years, I tried to stay strong, carry everything on my shoulders, and get by on my own. Unfortunately, I have hit a wall. My health is deteriorating, the disease progresses every day, and earning minimum wage leaves me with absolutely no chance of recovery without your support.
My Story and Family Situation
My daily life looks very different from that of most people my age. We live under incredibly difficult circumstances—both of my parents are severely disabled. Twenty years ago, my mother survived a horrific road accident, and four years ago, my father suffered a massive stroke. He receives only a partial disability pension, and we constantly struggle to make ends meet. I am the only one in the family able to work. My everyday reality is a continuous battle to survive and care for my loved ones.
On top of everything, our family is cursed with a rare genetic disease that aggressively destroys our teeth. It has affected me, my mother, and my two younger sisters.
How the Pandemic Took Away My Chance at Health
Before the pandemic, despite all the hardships, I fought hard and did everything I could to keep my teeth in acceptable condition. Unfortunately, following the job market crash, my position was eliminated. I lost my financial stability, and with my current salary, it is impossible to save even a single penny. The lack of regular, expensive treatment caused the disease to progress like an avalanche. Today, constant pain, chronic bodily inflammation, and difficulty eating are draining the last of my strength.
Furthermore, my youngest sister is also in urgent need of dental treatment. As her older sister, her health is my absolute priority—but I know that if my own health completely fails, I won't be able to help anyone anymore.
The Goal: Why Turkey and Why 55,000 PLN (approx. €9,000)?
Dental treatment in Poland was quoted at amounts that, for someone on minimum wage, might as well be the cost of a trip to space. My only chance to return to a normal life is a full reconstruction—the extraction of all teeth destroyed by the genetic disease and the placement of dental implants. I decided on a clinic in Turkey because it is the only way to undergo this complex procedure at the highest medical standard but for a fraction of the domestic cost.
Even so, the total cost of the surgery, permanent prosthetics, medical tests, and travel amounts to 55,000 PLN. This is a sum of money I will not see in my bank account for years to come.
A Request for Help
This fundraiser is not about "looking pretty." It is a fight for me to function normally, to be able to work, and to have the strength to keep taking care of my disabled family. To live without pain, without shame, and without the constant fear that chronic infections will destroy my body.
From the bottom of my heart, I ask for any donation, no matter how small. If you cannot support me financially, please share my story. Every single share brings a glimmer of hope.
Thank you for reading my story. 🫶
