Description
:: I want to help them!
My name is Krisztina Steppán. I live in Veszprém with my 22-year-old autistic son. On 1 April 2025, the Government Office withdrew the GYOD allowance, based on the legally required two-yearly mandatory assessment (scoring). I launched legal proceedings against this decision, which are still ongoing. Instead of the 260,000-forint GYOD benefit, a care allowance was set at 43,000 forint net per month. My son receives 37,000 forint in disability support. Following a hearing, the presiding judge ordered a forensic medical examination and assessment. The examination took place on 7 July. We have been awaiting the judgement ever since. We have struggled to make ends meet on the care allowance and disability allowance. We received a grant of 5,000 forints each from Veszprém City Council. We used to get help from others sometimes, but that has stopped now. I cannot take on work because my son is unable to look after himself, so I cannot leave him alone, yet our combined income is now barely enough for anything. We struggle to afford food from one month to the next, so I am asking for your help in this regard. If you are able to help, please let me know what documents I need to submit to prove my claim. This is a one-off request; hopefully a verdict will be reached in January and this nightmare will finally be over.
Yours sincerely and with thanks
Krisztina Steppán
