Description
I live alone with my 14-year-old daughter and our three dogs; we live in a house that has been classified as unfit for habitation, and we have to leave because the owner has put it up for sale. I only work part-time because I suffer from severe chronic kidney failure and rheumatoid arthritis.
So I went to see a social worker to find somewhere to live, but she refuses to help me unless I get rid of my dogs (who are part of the family).
She told me that to find somewhere to live, I had to get rid of the problem (my dogs)!
Now I’ve run out of options; we’re going to end up on the streets. We live in an area where rental properties are scarce – unfortunately, there’s more demand than supply – and rents have skyrocketed.
We’d love to be able to buy a little home of our own so we can look to the future with a different outlook and, above all, so I can go through my dialysis without the worry of finding somewhere to live.
My daughter is home-schooled; we’ve discovered she’s on the autism spectrum, and if we end up homeless, she won’t be able to continue her lessons.
Thank you all for reading this and for helping us.
