💚 A Dream for Chania: Help Faye Attend the Summer School in Environmental Journalism

My name is Faye Vlasi, I'm 52 years old, and I'm currently studying Journalism and Mass Media at the University of Athens, having been accepted through national entry exams. Journalism has always been a dream of mine, and now I'm working hard to make it a reality.

📣 A few months ago, I applied to the 13th Summer School in Environmental Journalism, taking place in Chania, Greece, from July 18 to 27, 2025. I never expected to be accepted - but I was! 🙌

Unfortunately, due to long-term unemployment, I'm unable to cover the costs of travel and accommodation, which amount to:

• €270 for participation and accommodation (to be deposited at the Chania Cooperative Bank by May 20th)
• €130 for travel expenses (to be deposited to my personal bank account by May 20th)

🔸 I have all the necessary documents to support my request (proof of unemployment, student status, etc.), and I'm reaching out with humility and hope for your support to attend this important educational program.

This opportunity would allow me to grow as a journalist focused on environmental issues, sustainability, and community awareness.

✋ Until 2010, I was working full-time as a kindergarten teacher (my first degree), but since then I have only found occasional work, which is not enough to support this journey. I truly wish to stand on my own feet again and contribute to society through responsible journalism.

A few months ago I applied to participate in the 13th summer school ...Yes!!I was accepted to the 13th Summer School of Environmental Journalism in Chania from 18 to 27 July 2025. When I applied I did not expect to be accepted! Here I am and unfortunately my finances due to long term unemployment do not help my accommodation & travel costs and I would like to go before I complete my studies at the EMME department of the University of Athens. There is a certificate of my unemployment, my certificate of attendance at my school, regarding the supporting documents of the creation of this fundraiser. There is the account of the Bank of Chania that 270 euros must be deposited by May 20 while 130 euros are for the tickets to Chania that will be deposited in my account to pay the tickets by May 20 again. I would love to participate in such an action and that is why I am creating this fundraiser. I would like to have a job and be able to pay my expenses as I did until 2010 when I was working. My minimal "living wage" as a kindergarten teacher (first degree for me) is occasional and not enough. I apologize if anyone is offended by what I write and express. That is not my intention, however.
