Description
What if we could create a place where nature, food, community and a simpler way of life are once again naturally interconnected?
That is what we are building with Origen.
Origen is an initiative to create a regenerative living, learning and gathering space in Spain. A place where people can live closer to nature, where food is produced locally, where biodiversity is restored, and where people learn, work and build a more sustainable future together.
But Origen is now more than just an idea.
What have we achieved so far?Over the past period, we have been developing the foundations of the project step by step.
Among other things, we now have:
- a Master Plan for the development of Origen
- a Residents’ Charter
- a Structural Manual
- an Ownership and Financial Framework
- a participant survey for future residents
- a roadmap for the various development phases
- a crowdfunding and fundraising plan
- Initial research into potential locations in Spain
- a website and social media channels through which we share our progress
We are currently working on the next phase with a core team of four people.
And that next phase requires something very specific:
professional preparation. The first €5,000 is not intended to be used to buy land straight away.
It is intended to ensure that we can take the step towards securing a site carefully, professionally and responsibly.
With this first round of funding, we aim to work on, amongst other things:
Legal and organisational preparationsInvestigating how Origen can best be organised legally in the Netherlands and Spain, and what structure is needed to properly manage donations, ownership and future activities.
Site surveysFurther investigating potential sites in Spain with regard to, amongst other things, land use, existing buildings, accessibility and development potential.
Water, soil and technical feasibilityWater is one of the most important requirements for Origen.
We therefore wish to assess sites not only on the basis of their appeal or price, but also in terms of water availability, soil, infrastructure and practical feasibility.
Financial planningWe aim to draw up an increasingly accurate budget for acquisition, development, infrastructure and future operation.
Fundraising and partnershipsAs well as crowdfunding, we want to secure funding, grants, corporate partners and regular supporters, so that Origen does not become dependent on a single source of funding.
We want to deliberately break down the big goal into smaller, manageable steps.
Our first milestone is therefore:
€2,500We intend to use this initial €2,500 to fund the first professional feasibility phase.
Our aim is for this to result in, amongst other things:
- a clearer legal framework
- more precise criteria for our future location
- an initial professional assessment of potential sites
- greater clarity regarding water, land and technical feasibility
- a more accurate financial estimate for the next phase
- a clear decision on which steps are appropriate next
This way, as a supporter, you’ll not only know where your money is going, but also what concrete results it should deliver.
Once the full target is reached, we can take the preparations a step further.
Among other things, we aim to:
- carry out additional legal and financial preparations
- to compare potential venues in more detail
- call upon specialist expertise where necessary
- further professionalise the fundraising structure
- draw up the next development budget
- prepare for the phase in which a suitable location can actually be secured
Each subsequent funding phase will again have its own objective, budget and measurable outcome.
Our ambition is to develop a site in Spain where, amongst other things, there will be scope for:
- nature restoration
- biodiversity
- a food forest
- vegetable gardens and local food production
- responsible water management
- sustainable energy
- community living
- workshops and education
- volunteers
- small-scale accommodation
- retreats and moments of tranquillity and reconnection
- sharing knowledge about regenerative and more self-sufficient living
Origen must not become a closed-off world.
On the contrary, we want to show how nature, community, entrepreneurship and modern life can be connected in a different way.
Because a project like Origen isn’t created in one big step.
It comes about because people decide:
‘I want to contribute to this’.
A contribution of €10 might not immediately transform an entire landscape.
But a hundred people each contributing €10 together make €1,000 possible.
And more importantly:
they show that Origen is supported not just by four founders, but by a growing group of people who believe this is worthwhile.
There are three ways you can support Origen:
1. Make a financial contributionEvery contribution helps.
Whether that’s €5, €10, €25, €50 or more.
2. Share this campaignPerhaps you can’t contribute yourself, but you know someone who’s passionate about nature restoration, self-sufficient living, community or regenerative agriculture.
Even a single shared link can make a difference.
3. Follow our progressWe want to build Origen transparently.
That’s why we share our progress, new developments and important decisions via our channels.
We believe trust is essential.
That is why we want to continue sharing updates throughout the development process:
- how much money has been raised
- what major expenditure is being made
- which milestones have been reached
- what problems we are encountering
- what the next step will be
If plans change, we will communicate this honestly.
Because building a project like Origen doesn’t mean that everything is certain from the outset.
It means that every subsequent step is taken with care.
Origen is currently being developed by a core team of four people.
We are working together on, amongst other things:
- project development
- organisation
- finance
- fundraising
- community
- communication
- research into potential locations
We do this because we believe there is scope for a way of life in which people do not have to choose between nature, community and participation in the modern world.
We want to explore how these elements can come together again.
And ultimately, we don’t just want to describe it.
We want to demonstrate it.
Our ultimate goal is much greater than €5,000.
But big projects start with small, concrete steps.
The first step is:
to turn a detailed plan into a professionally prepared project.
We’re now asking for your help with this.
Origen isn’t asking for a contribution simply to keep a dream alive.
We’re asking for support to turn a concrete plan into reality, step by step.Would you like to help make that first step possible?
