Our friend Edith sadly passed away suddenly just before New Year’s Eve. Now her son Christoph is not only dealing with the shock and grief, but also with her house, her dogs, a number of unpaid bills and, of course, her bank account, which was immediately frozen.

As Christoph lived with her and is already retired himself due to a serious illness (he receives only a very small pension), he now faces massive problems. The running costs for energy etc./internet/dog food; bills that have recently accumulated, which he has to settle or pay out of his own pocket; the funeral, etc. The death certificate, for example, normally costs €9.30, but he also had to pay €210 for the post-mortem examination...

We currently expect the probate process to take at least six months; he will not be able to keep the house and, apart from having to vacate it, will also need a place to stay himself afterwards. Christoph is still in shock and currently feeling completely overwhelmed. We would like to help him, also in Edith’s spirit, to get through this difficult time at least a little better.
