A crisis headquarters meets in the town, a state of emergency is declared.
On Wednesday (19. 3.) around 22.35 h, a shack started to burn in a settlement in Veľký Šariš. Five people lost their lives. The Župčany Voluntary Fire Brigade informed about it on the social network.
The unfortunate event affected 30 people
"Unfortunately, a great tragedy struck us last night - a fire in the settlement, which claimed the lives of four young children and one adult. Eight dwellings burned down, and in total approximately 30 people are affected by this unfortunate event," the town of Veľký Šariš reported on its social network.
Emergency situation, crisis staff to meet
A crisis headquarters will meet in the town and an emergency situation has been declared.
"At the same time, we turn to you, dear citizens, with a plea for help and solidarity. These people will need our support - both material and human," the mayor said.
The damage caused by the fire has been provisionally estimated at 12,000 euros.
