Description
My name is Ferenc Krisztián Tóth, and I am 49 years old.
All my life, I have strived to live independently, with my head held high and with honour, despite my circumstances, and to solve my problems through my own efforts. I am a quiet man who has always taken pride in never being a burden to anyone. However, I have now found myself in a situation from which I am unable to recover, either physically or financially, through my own efforts – which is why, for the first time in my life, I have to ask for help.
Sport gave me a new lease of life, but fate has put me to the test once again
In 1992, I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Following an operation in Germany in 1996, the doctors gave me the shocking news: I would be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of my life. As a young man, it was difficult to accept this, but I didn’t give up; I found a new purpose in sport.
In 1997, I took up competitive powerlifting. I learnt incredible perseverance: I became a multiple Hungarian champion, and in 1999 I won the European Championship title. I proved to myself and to the world that it is possible to achieve results even with a severe physical disability.
When difficulties came crashing down on me
Unfortunately, recent years have placed me in an undeservedly difficult situation:
- The loss of my mother: from 2023 onwards, I devoted myself entirely to caring for my seriously ill mother in our modest daily life. In October 2024, I lost her unexpectedly. As well as the emotional turmoil this caused, it also meant that I was left completely alone in the world.
- Further operations and rehabilitation: In early 2025, my spinal condition relapsed, so I had to undergo another operation on my spine in April 2026. Since then, I have been undergoing rehabilitation and have had to relearn even the simplest everyday movements.
- Without family support: Due to a family tragedy, my sister is looking after four young children, so I cannot expect any help from her either.
My very livelihood is at risk
Due to my state of health, I am currently unable to take on work. Unfortunately, the figures are stark:
- My monthly income: just 63,915 Ft.
- My unavoidable monthly expenses: over 225,000 Ft (local authority rent, utility bills, medicines, social assistance and meal fees, travel to medical appointments).
- My monthly shortfall: at least 161,000 Ft (this does not include any unexpected costs).
As I do not have my own car or a driving licence (and would not be able to drive anyway due to my illness), travelling to medical appointments places a huge additional financial and physical burden on me.
Why am I asking for help?
I’ve never liked asking for help, and I’m certainly not raising funds to make my life more comfortable. I’ve launched this campaign so that I don’t lose the roof over my head, so that I can pay for my essential medication, and so that I can continue my rehabilitation.
My first goal is to raise 2,500,000 Ft, which will enable me to secure safe accommodation and cover my basic living costs for the next year.
I believe that this help is not just financial support, but also a chance for me to continue living an independent and dignified life. Any donation, however small, a word of encouragement or SHARING this fundraiser is a huge help and a ray of hope for me!
I am sincerely grateful for all your support.
Yours sincerely,
Ferenc Krisztián Tóth
My name is Ferenc Krisztián Tóth, and I am 49 years old.
Throughout my life, despite my circumstances, I have always strived to live independently, with dignity and honour, and to overcome my challenges through my own strength. I am a quiet person who has always taken pride in never being a burden to anyone. However, I have now reached a point in my life where I can no longer get back on my feet on my own—either physically or financially. That is why, for the first time in my life, I must ask for help.
When one hardship followed another
The past few years have brought undeservedly difficult times:
- The loss of my mother: From 2023 onwards, I cared for my seriously ill mother with total devotion in our modest everyday life. In October 2024, I suddenly lost her. Beyond the immense emotional shock, it meant that I was left completely alone in the world.
- Further operations and rehabilitation: In early 2025, my spinal condition flared up again, requiring another major spinal operation in April 2026. I am currently undergoing rehabilitation, having to relearn even the simplest everyday movements.
- No family support network: My sister is caring for four young children following a family tragedy, so I cannot expect any financial help from her.
My basic livelihood is at risk
Due to my health condition, I am currently unable to work. The financial reality is stark:
- My monthly income: just 63,915 HUF (approx. €160)
- My unavoidable monthly expenses: over 225,000 HUF (approx. €570), covering council rent, utilities, medication, social assistance and meal service fees, and medical transport.
- My monthly shortfall: at least 161,000 HUF (approx. €410), excluding any unexpected costs.
Without a car or a driving licence (which I am physically unable to hold due to my disability), getting to medical appointments places a massive additional financial and physical burden on me.
Why am I asking for help?
I have never liked asking for help, and I am not fundraising to live a more comfortable lifestyle. I started this campaign so that I do not lose the roof over my head, so that I can afford my essential medication, and so that I can continue my physical rehabilitation.
My main aim is to raise 2,500,000 HUF (approx. €7,000), which will secure my accommodation and basic living costs for the next 12 months.
I believe that help is not just financial support, but a real chance to continue living an independent and dignified life. Any small donation, encouraging message, or SHARE of this campaign is a huge help and a ray of hope for me!
I am deeply grateful for every bit of support.
Yours sincerely,
Ferenc Krisztián Tóth
