Hope Agency works at the heart of Takéo, supporting the most vulnerable—families struggling to survive, children fighting for an education, and individuals abandoned by society. Every donation provides essential food, medical care, shelter, and education to those who have nowhere else to turn.  

Hope food bank is a lifeline for many families in the village. The longest food bank member, Nora, is an 84-year-old woman who was left paralysed after a stroke when her children stole and sold her land, forcing her to live under plastic sheets before the community built her a small shelter. She has spent the last eight years on the same wooden platform, unable to move. Another woman, Sreyley, sick and unable to work, was abandoned by her daughter and left to raise six grandchildren alone. Others faced extreme hardship and were forced into desperate situations to feed their families before Hope Agency stepped in.  

The orphanage is home to children with no family and no support. Kong Kia, a 19-year-old with cerebral palsy, was abandoned as a baby. With little support, he still spends most days confined to his bed, yet he is always happy to have visitors, just like the other children at the orphanage, who, despite having nothing, are always smiling and full of joy.

Hope School is a lifeline for children in a country where education is often out of reach. After the Khmer Rouge regime wiped out Cambodia’s intellectual class, education became a low priority, and many children are still expected to work instead of learning. Hope School gives them the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. Some arrive barefoot and in torn clothes, but they show up every day, eager to learn, because they know this is their only chance for a better future. Many have gone on to university and changed their lives.  

All of this is made possible by Jason, who grew up in an orphanage himself and taught himself English as a way out of poverty. After receiving a small sponsorship, he put himself through university and founded Hope Agency to give other children the same chance he had.
