Description
We are expats form the USA living in Europe on a job assignment.
We had a house fire in our rental house in Malta.
It was started by faulty wiring in the master bedroom.
The master bedroom and bathroom and all of our belongings were destroyed by fire and smoke.
The home owner did not have any home owner insurance on the house.
Because there was no insurance we paid for the rehab and were later advised by an attorney we did not have to and should not have paid anyhting as it was not our fault.
We are trying to recoup some of the cost of the loss and what we paid to rehab the house.
