Fire in a flat in Zory . My family lost almost all their possessions , these tragic events took place on the afternoon of 25 October.

The fire that broke out in our family's flat almost completely destroyed our belongings, my wife, son and our dog.

Fortunately, at the time the fire broke out, my wife and our dog managed to escape from the flat and my son was at school, thus avoiding casualties.

When I was coming home from the shop a neighbour told me that there was a fire at my place. I ran to the cage and started knocking on neighbours from the ground floor to the 2nd floor calling for help. The neighbours took buckets and bowls. I didn't think what was waiting for me behind the door. I opened it nothing was visible. The whole hallway was in black smoke. With the help of the neighbours and I started to put out the kitchen where the fire was visible. It was brought under control and nothing luckily exploded, thanks to the neighbours and those who carried water. Shortly afterwards, the firemen arrived on the scene and cut off the gas and electricity. They opened the windows and started to extinguish and secure what was left.

Once again, I would like to thank the neighbours who helped to extinguish the fire and those who alerted the neighbours on the upper floors to go outside, and of course the firefighters from the Żory fire brigade.

However, the fire consumed all the furnishings in the flat: furniture, household appliances, clothes and other items of daily use. Almost all the rooms were destroyed, including the kitchen and hallway and 2 living rooms and a bathroom. In addition, five pairs of doors and a window in the kitchen were damaged (glass cracked and melted and twisted by the fire).

Walls and floors were flooded during the firefighting operation. The electrical and water supply systems were severely damaged. One of the balcony windows is suitable for replacement. The flat needs a general renovation. This should start with a very expensive, professional cleaning of the entire flat from soot and char by an external company.

We are asking Myself Adam, my Wife Sylwia, Son Jacob and dog Moris for financial support, emphasising that every donation makes a huge difference. The money will be used to have the flat professionally cleaned of soot and ash, followed by new electricity and water installations and a gas comprehensive renovation. The cost of bringing the flat back into use is estimated at 120,000 - 150,000 zloty. We are asking you to help us get back to normality and we are asking you for every zloty.
