Description

Israel's aggression against the Gaza Strip has been going on for 20 months now. During this time, the inhabitants of Gaza have been experiencing unimaginable suffering, and the humanitarian situation is becoming increasingly dramatic. In March, Israel completely blocked the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, cutting off its inhabitants from basic means of subsistence.

As of 9 June 2025, the death toll is terrifying:

55,104 killed,

14,222 missing under the rubble, who should also be considered dead,

32% of those killed were children (17,492 identified, and 4,551 children still missing under the rubble),

• 21% of those killed were women,

127,394 injured, including over 40,000 children and nearly 27,000 women,

42,000 orphans who lost both parents.

These are not just numbers. These are people – children, women, entire families – whose lives have been destroyed by war.

In the face of these tragic figures, our help becomes a drop of hope in a sea of suffering.

Your help changes lives

Thanks to your donations and support over many months, we are able to provide real help to those who need it most. We regularly support:

over 20 families, or about 150 people, of whom about 100 are children,

two orphanages that care for around 150 orphaned children,

• drinking water deliveries for forcibly displaced families.

Thanks to your donations, we can provide these families with:

🍞 food,

🍼 milk and nappies,

💊 medicines and medical assistance,

👕 clothes for children.

Each of your donations is real help for those who really need it.

Don't be indifferent

Let me quote some words that should touch all our hearts:

‘The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch evil without taking any action to stop it.’

We cannot remain indifferent to what is happening in Gaza. Every pound, every helping hand, every moment spent helping matters.

Women's suffering – Salma's story

War always affects the most vulnerable the most – women, children, the elderly. Pregnant women in the Gaza Strip face unimaginable difficulties. According to data from the World Health Organisation (WHO) in conflict zones:

· 1 in 5 women of childbearing age require health care related to pregnancy or childbirth,

· lack of access to adequate medical care increases the risk of death for pregnant women and newborns by up to 70%,

· in many cases, women are forced to give birth in extremely unsanitary conditions, without access to doctors, medicines and basic hygiene products.

In the Gaza Strip, where there has been a shortage of medicines, water and food for months, pregnant women are left to fend for themselves. One such woman is our ward, Salma.

Salma – a mother who endured unimaginable suffering

Salma is a young woman who, in March this year, had to give birth to her daughter in a tent, lying on the ground. Due to complications during labour, a caesarean section was necessary, which was performed without anaesthesia. Imagine the pain, suffering and fear of not having access to any medical assistance.

After giving birth, Salma fell ill. Her body, weakened by a lack of proper care, medicine and food, was unable to recover. She had no access to antibiotics that could have saved her health. Due to malnutrition, she lost her milk, causing her little daughter to also suffer from hunger.

Your help gives hope

Thanks to your donations, we were able to help Salma and her child. We provided them with food, baby milk and basic medicines. Salma is recovering and her daughter is growing up, surrounded by care and support that is possible thanks to you.

Salma's story is just one of many. In the Gaza Strip, thousands of women face similar suffering every day. Every pound, every gesture of support is a step towards saving their lives and health.

Hunger in Gaza – children are dying fastest

Hunger in the Gaza Strip has reached catastrophic proportions. According to data published by UNICEF and other international organisations:

· 1 in 5 people in Gaza are facing starvation, and 470,000 people are on the brink of starvation,

· 71,000 children under the age of 5 and over 17,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women require immediate nutritional assistance,

· 31% of children under the age of 2 in northern Gaza suffer from acute malnutrition – a dramatic increase from 15.6% in January 2024.

The situation is exacerbated by the fact that, since 2 March 2025, Israel has completely blocked humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, leading to the longest period of lack of access to food, water and medicine since the beginning of the war. Videos documenting the situation at ‘humanitarian aid’ points are chilling – children trying to get food for their families are falling victim to snipers. The bodies of children lying on the ground, their blood mixing with the flour they hoped to bring to their mothers, is an image that should not exist in the 21st century.

The children we save

The children we care for in Gaza arrive in a state of extreme malnutrition. They are sick, emaciated, their eyes are sunken, and their arms and legs resemble sticks. The lack of adequate food and basic nutrients leaves their bodies devastated and vulnerable to disease.

However, thanks to your help, these children have a chance at life. Within a few weeks of regular support:

• they begin to gain weight,

• they become healthier,

• they regain the strength to play and smile.

We met many of these children at the beginning of this nightmare. Thanks to you, we can see them grow, change and regain hope. Their happy faces as they eat meals donated by donors are the best proof of how important your support is. These children happily say ‘Shukran’ and ‘Thank you’ to you.

Let's not be indifferent.

Every pound, every donation is a chance to save a life. Hunger in Gaza is not just statistics – it is real suffering for people, especially children, who die the fastest. Your help gives them hope for a better tomorrow.
