No, we are not a foundation, nor are we an association.

We are two people who decided a dozen years ago to give a few animals a home. We didn't have any ambitious plans for this, we didn't want to fall into the track of collecting: dogs, cats and other animals. The target was to have several.

And full stop. But at its peak there were more than thirty, all of them past their prime, abandoned, ailing, but as happens in life, the old and ailing ones gradually left us.

They NEVER left without a fight, to the very end they fought, we fought.

Somehow we managed financially and physically.

The number of four-legged family members was reduced to eleven, and there were to be no new ones, none.

And then in 2022 there were new 'citizens' who had to be helped because no one wanted them (nine in number).

As of 20 December 2023, we have in the "home shelter" as wards: 18 dogs and two cats.

The charges range in age and health: from rambunctious toddlers (and they too are not healthy - inflammatory bowel disease) to ailing grandmothers and grandfathers. Diseases? Here you go: ailing paw joints and spine (one of the dogs after a severe back operation), kidney failure, urinary stones, uremia, Cushing's, ailing livers, tumours: adenocarcinoma, lymphoma and mastocytoma, anaemias, pony tail syndrome, epilepsy, hypothyroidism.

We have to provide them with food (including specialised food), ongoing and follow-up diagnostics, treatment and supplementation for acquired diseases, provide mandatory vaccinations, deworming and tick prevention, provide a dry and warm roof over their heads. The last few months have been a struggle for survival for us, as for many animal foundations. We have definitely reached a wall as far as we are concerned.

With the help of a dozen or so good Samaritans, we managed to survive. Unfortunately, November and December drained our pockets and knocked us on our backs (at one time we had a dog come in, overwhelmed with borrowed money with babesiosis and two additional tick-bites, hypothyroidism, an ailing spine, a stomach twist and tumours on the spleen, requiring immediate, life-saving surgery and further treatment, and the urgency of an equally urgent surgery for a teenage bitch with kidney failure and a huge tumour on her spleen).

Without your help we are unable to survive and continue to care for the pet.
