Description
Iris is a wonderful little 4-year-old girl, a much-wanted and long-awaited child. Over the years she has been filling our hearts and our lives, we have noticed that she displays some signs of autism, but we found it hard to believe that she might actually have autism. However, three months ago we plucked up the courage and decided to see a specialist to find out why she hadn’t acquired certain skills, including the language skills she should have at this age. She was diagnosed with moderate autism. We were told that she is a bright child, that there is no question of a developmental delay, and that she has a good chance of functioning in society – which is actually quite a contradiction. She is much more talkative, more active and more attentive. I thank God for that. However, due to our financial situation, we have missed quite a few sessions. My only wish is to see my child well, and it breaks my heart to see that I cannot give her a chance because we didn’t have the money for travel. What I want is to be able to rest assured that we will never miss her long-awaited sessions again (because she is always eager to go and ‘play’ with the girls) and which are so important for her recovery. I am grateful for any contribution, however small
