I’d like to help my dad, and I’ll explain why straight away.

When I was still a teenager, about 12 years old, my parents got divorced because my mum left for another man and stopped taking any interest in me whatsoever, so my dad got custody of me and had to find a second job to look after me properly... He looked after me all the way through to my university days, and after that I went on to live my own life, but we always stayed in touch.... A few years later, he found a girlfriend with whom he was together for several years, but sadly she died of cancer, which progressed very quickly.

My dad couldn’t cope with this, unfortunately, and started drinking alcohol and stopped going to work; he was completely at rock bottom mentally and eventually lost everything and ended up on the streets. I personally helped him as much as I could, but until he realised for himself that things couldn’t go on like this and that he wanted to live differently, it was all in vain.

About six months later, Dad got properly fed up and went into rehab. The treatment was a success; he found a job and a place to stay and started afresh.

He doesn’t drink alcohol at all anymore, just like before, and as I said, he goes to work, but it’s a slave’s job where he gets 25,000 CZK for 300 hours a month, and from that he pays 10,560 CZK for accommodation, where he currently lives with another stranger in a single room; and from what’s left, after buying food and paying all his bills, he has no chance of saving up for a decent place to rent, especially in Prague...

Changing jobs is an option, but the job he has now comes with accommodation included, so the two are tied together.

That’s about all I wanted to say.

I’m asking kind-hearted people to donate specifically for my dad, so he can live a normal life again, have a proper place to live, and maybe even find someone special in time... Dad is 65 now, so he should be eligible for it...
