Description

Dear donors!

I’ll be honest. I’m not raising money for a large organisation or any other charity. I found this site and am giving it a go to see if people might be willing to help selflessly.

Unfortunately, I got caught up in a cycle of debt in my early twenties. I started university but didn’t finish, leaving me with a student loan of 5 million forints; fortunately, only 2 million forints remains today. However, just when it seemed I could get a handle on this debt, I took out a personal loan in a difficult situation, hoping to travel abroad and find work there. It didn’t work out, and I was unemployed for a year, so both loans went into debt collection and the costs multiplied. I’ve had a job for nearly eight years now (though not at the same place), but unfortunately, despite paying instalments, the debt just keeps growing.

I don’t live lavishly; I spend every penny of my salary on repaying the loans, which isn’t what I need to live on. I don’t travel; I just work, even doing extra hours, but unfortunately 33% of my salary is still deducted, leaving me with a maximum of 200,000 forints. I try to pay as much as I can from this, but the debt isn’t decreasing – it’s actually increasing.

Currently, I have a debt of 4,000,000 forints with the local debt collection agency and 18,000,000 forints with the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV).

The amount held by the debt collection agency may even decrease if I make a larger repayment to the claimant.

That is the background to the case.

Why am I asking for help?

Although the amount I am raising is large, I would be happy with even a smaller sum, if only to make an early repayment or to complete a course that could lead to working abroad and, with hard work and perseverance, set me free.

I have two plans for this:

The first is a Data Science course costing around 1,500,000 forints, but it’s a sound financial investment as I have some IT background (I attended PPKE ITK, though I didn’t finish).

The second is to complete a technical college course in Building Services Engineering; it costs less, but it can also provide a living abroad.

In summary, I am not primarily asking you to rescue me from the situation I have brought upon myself, but rather to help me set out on a path that would lead to a stable future.
