Help Us Save Filip: The Fight Against Brain Tumor

In August 2021, our world came to a sudden halt. With the diagnosis came an unending fear—the fear for our beloved child's life. We learned that Filip has a brain tumor.

It all started innocently with a headache, but the pain intensified. When morning vomiting began, we were terrified. We reacted immediately. At the hospital, we discovered that fluid was building up in Filip's head, and the pressure was so high it felt like his skull might burst. We were just hours away from tragedy...

Since then, Filip has undergone eight surgeries: five for hydrocephalus, leaving him with two shunts; two to reduce the tumor; and one for a port insertion.

Unfortunately, these surgeries have resulted in left-sided weakness, vision problems, and short-term memory deficits. During the operations, Filip's pituitary gland was also affected, leading to hypothyroidism and adrenal insufficiency. A significant portion of the tumor remains in his brain, and due to its unfavorable location, it can never be fully removed.

Consultations, tests, and treatment involve enormous costs. We are continually rehabilitating our son. At this moment, the tumor is stable, but it has regrown to its original size a few months after the first surgery...

That’s why we must act immediately!

We are doing everything we can to avoid another reduction surgery, which could result in the loss of his vision and physical and intellectual abilities. Currently, Filip is undergoing his second consecutive year of chemotherapy, which is scheduled to end in February 2025.

Unfortunately, the current chemotherapy regimen, administered every two weeks since February 2024, had to be halted due to complications. We are waiting for the doctors’ decision regarding the next treatment protocol.

We have faced three incredibly difficult years, and this is just the beginning of our fight. According to the doctors, the tumor should be stable, yet it continues to grow. We refuse to sit idly by; we must take action! We ask for your help in our battle for what matters most—our child's life and health!

The funds raised will be allocated to cover all costs related to treatment, tests, specialist consultations, necessary rehabilitation and learning equipment, trips to hospitals, hotel stays, rehabilitation activities and outings, as well as related transportation.
