Nicolae was abandoned in a maternity hospital shortly after he was born, Nicolae Tanicui never felt the warmth of a family. He lived in an orphanage, in a hostile environment that left him traumatised for life. The 42-year-old says he was infected with the hepatitis B and D viruses at the children's home. He learnt about the disease when he was supposed to join the army. The stigma of chronic viral hepatitis cut off any chance of a normal life.
Ever since he was a child, Nicolae Tanicui has been fighting for survival. He grew up in an orphanage after his mother left him at birth. He'd heard that he had four other siblings, but knew nothing about them. Life in the orphanage wasn't easy. He was left with scars that scarred him forever.
He says he was bullied many times and the repeated beatings made him afraid of his own shadow. After he left the children's home, Nicolae learnt that he was suffering from hepatitis B and D. It happened when he was supposed to be drafted into the army. This chronic hepatitis diagnosis ruined his future. Since then, Nicolae has struggled to survive from one day to the next.

Despite the hard life he has always had, Nicolae knows that God works through people. He's hopeful that from there, somewhere, he'll get a helping hand.
