My name is Dimitris Kretzas, a young man determined to return to my village, Morfi in the Voio region of Kozani, which is situated in the Pindus mountain range on Mount Voio at an altitude of 840 metres — asmall community with few inhabitants, facing a serious problem of depopulation.

For generations, families from Morfi and other villages in the area have migrated to cities or abroad in search of opportunities, leaving behind the homes and landscapes they once called home.

Thus, the house that stood in the village gradually began to fall into disrepair due to neglect and a lack of maintenance, with the result that it is no longer habitable.

I am one of the few who still want to and continue to visit the village where I grew up and spent my summers, and where I have my fondest childhood memories with my grandfather and grandmother.

With the right support, I can transform this little paradise. Your help will enable me to repair and renovate

the old house of my grandparents, who emigrated from there to America for many years, then returned to Greece

and passed away many years ago.

1. House Restoration –With the right support, and a lot of hard work, I want to be able to repair the damage to the house, the window frames, the doors, paint it inside and out, fix the plumbing, the floor, the garden surrounding the house, the kitchen with the fireplace, the courtyard, and to repair the damage caused by the wear and tear of time, as well as to maintain and repair the furniture and buy some new pieces.

2. Garden Restoration – I want to restore the house’s garden to how it used to be, back when my grandparents lived there, with all sorts of trees, fruit and vegetables, flowers, trees and plants.
