  • Hi everyone, a big thank you to all the supporters, the project is going very well, thanks to you!

Beyond the financial resources, the initiative has received a lot of mental and physical help. We are surprisingly close to the end! The tops will reach their full glory within 2 months as it stands, 4pcs SKRAM sub is planned to follow with a not too big delay.

What we already have, or in progress:

    -Amps (CVR DSP-3004 / CVR DSP-1004 / CVR DSP-654)

-Amp and power rack (under construction)

-JMOD MEH 2 Wood -Racks, rack case (K&M 213)

-Speakers (For bass crates: 4x21DS115, for JMOD: 4x12NDL88, 2xDCX464)

-Glue, glue, cable harnesses, connectors, speaker paint

Currently the total amount paid for the project is 2,872,106Ft. Significant donations have been received from outside the site, but the 1,782 euros (678,658Ft) raised here so far is almost 24% of the total budget, which is a significant amount. I'm leaving the donations open; there are still high costs to be covered (the system processor, cable rack, power conditioner, power cable, wheels), but once these are done, the system will be fully complete.

Description

Hi everyone!

I’ve been planning to build a hi-fi quality sound system for a long time. For me, the most important element of electronic music is the sound itself, and I’ve always been more interested in listening to truly outstanding, exciting music than in who the DJ is. It’s also important to make this experience as accessible as possible, so that it’s not just the clubs with significantly more capital than us that can afford to sound really good. Most of my favourite musical experiences are linked to the sound itself, and I can see that there are so many exciting artists and bands who deserve a sound system that truly allows them to sound the way they should.

I’ll definitely save up the money for this over time, but several people have mentioned to me that they’d be happy to contribute to the project for this noble cause. In fact, the more money comes in, the less I’ll have to view it as a ‘rental’ investment, and the sooner the Hungarian underground will have access to a system capable of providing high-quality sound for everything from small gigs to full festival stages.

I want the whole project to be as transparent as possible, so here are my exact plans:

The primary goal is a pair of top boxes designed in the spirit of relatively modern technology, featuring a multiple-entry horn (synergy horn). The specific model is a realisation of the freely available JMOD MEH design. This loudspeaker is capable of 126 dB SPL, with a frequency response of 80–18,000 Hz and a 90×60-degree coverage angle, delivering studio-quality sound. What is truly exciting about this technology, developed by the American company Danley Sound, is that it is a true point-source loudspeaker and is capable of delivering a sound experience across a wide swath of the dance floor that is akin to listening to music through headphones.

This speaker requires the highest quality drivers available; in each speaker, the high and mid-frequencies are handled by a B&C DCX464 driver, which costs €485 per unit. In addition, two B&C 12NDL88 drivers handle the bass; the total cost per unit for these four drivers is roughly €250.

I will be driving these with CVR amplifiers.

My long-term plan is to build a pair, and then another pair, of SKRAM-type subwoofers with 21-inch woofers, based on the open-source plans that are also available for free. The allocated budget (approx. 2 million) would cover the MEH tops and their matching amplifiers; any additional funds would finance the subwoofers.

This system will be capable of outstanding performance in the field of both DIY and professional loudspeakers in Hungary, as there are only a few Danley Audio loudspeakers in the country.

Kisses,

Kristóf Novotny aka vonal_64
