Europe's largest Jewish cemetery in Budapest
Europe's largest Jewish cemetery in Budapest
What will you fundraise for today?
Description
I am Streit Gábor from Hungary I live in the capital Budapest!
I collect for the largest Jewish cemetery in Europe. The cemetery has been in operation for over 130 years. Currently the cemetery is in a terrible state. I understand that many old trees have fallen down and many gravestones are damaged and should be restored but the cemetery does not receive any financial support from the cemetery's maintainer or the state. Many gravestones have been damaged by vandalism and natural disasters. Hundreds of gravestones have been blown down by the wind, or trees have fallen on them after the storm uprooted them. There is a lot of waste (rubbish) in the cemetery that does not belong there.
It is important that these problems are solved, as life-threatening conditions exist at the moment. Another reason is the respect for the deceased, the final resting place of so many famous internationally renowned people should not look like this (Olympic champions, painters, artists, sportsmen etc.). For the preservation of Jewish culture and for the sake of future generations, it is important that the site once again commemorates the more than 400,000 who have passed away.
The donations will be used to repair and replace broken gravestones, plant new trees and clean up rubbish. Hire of equipment (crane truck, forklift, etc.)
Thank you for taking the time to read what I collect. I am grateful for all donations, I hope together we can reach the goal.
