Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,

Our family is facing an unexpected medical emergency, and we are asking for your support.

In February, my mother Luz Mary traveled from Colombia to Europe to visit us. During the trip she suddenly developed severe back pain that quickly progressed to weakness and loss of sensitivity in her legs.

On March 1st, we rushed to the emergency department in Prague. Doctors discovered that her spinal cord was being compressed, a condition that can lead to permanent paralysis if not treated immediately. That same night she underwent emergency spinal surgery at Nemocnice Na Homolce in Prague.

Surgeons were able to relieve the pressure on her spinal cord, and thankfully she has already started to regain strength in her legs.

Doctors are currently performing further laboratory analysis and medical evaluations to determine the underlying cause and the next steps for her treatment.

Our goal now is to bring Luz Mary back to Colombia as soon as doctors determine it is safe for her to travel, so she can continue her treatment surrounded by her family and within the Colombian healthcare system.

Unfortunately, we are now facing significant medical and travel expenses related to the emergency surgery, hospitalization, and the logistics required for her safe return to Colombia. The travel assistance provider we relied on has denied coverage, leaving us to manage these unexpected costs.

We are opening this fundraiser to help cover:

- Emergency medical expenses from surgery and hospitalization

- Post-operative care while she recovers enough to travel

- Medical travel and return to Colombia.
