We are writing to you to ask for your help, as our family is facing a difficult situation.

On 6 July 2024, I suffered an accident at work – I broke and sprained the thumb of my left hand. I was alone at work and, despite the pain, I carried on for an hour before I was allowed to go home.

No one advised me to go to hospital.

It subsequently transpired that my employer had long been ignoring their responsibilities. Six months later, I had to undergo surgery, and the pain gradually spread to the entire left side of my body. A year later, I was granted a first-degree disability pension.

On 8,700 CZK a month, I can’t pay the rent or support my family. My wife is on maternity leave. I tried to find work – hundreds of CVs and ten years’ experience – but always the same reply: ‘you’re not qualified’. Eventually I found a job on a small farm, but the pain was so unbearable that I had to leave.

We are asking for any support you can offer – every contribution gives us hope that we can cope with this difficult situation and keep a roof over our heads.
