Description
Please help me send one of Bangladesh’s leading young voices to the Innovate4Cities climate conference in Nairobi on 21 June 🌎 !
I am currently supporting Rishadul Prince Alam, one of the most dedicated young climate and democracy activists I have ever met, having discussed politics, climate change and strategies with him for the past six months. Rishadul is 18 years old, founder of Youth For Future in Bangladesh and a leading figure within Fridays For Future International. He was also on the front line during the July 2024 uprising for justice and systemic change.
He attends college and, on top of that, devotes all his waking hours to activism. He gives me hope for the future, and now WE can give him the chance to make a difference on a global scale!
Bangladesh is being hit extremely hard by climate change, with 5 million new climate refugees every year. Rishadul and the other activists in Youth For Future are working practically to:
- Advocating for climate transition.
- Educating and organising young people.
- Helping refugees directly on the ground.
- Supporting women who are worst affected by infections caused by rising sea levels and salt water.
Rishadul has been invited to the Innovate4Cities conference in Nairobi on 21 June. There, he will present our joint plans for a revolutionary project for genuine democracy and new financial systems, which we are planning together with Swedish organisations such as the Citizens’ Council Movement; we are working on the Transition Network and are supported by Oxfam with contacts and expertise.
The climate conference is an opportunity for Rishadul and his organisation to establish contacts with researchers, decision-makers and innovators, and to secure future funding.
Rishadul’s goal in Nairobi is to give grassroots communities in Bangladesh more power and opportunities. He will highlight:
- Citizens’ councils: Where ordinary people, not just the elite, get to shape climate policy.
- Justice for climate refugees: Money and housing for the poorest.
- Women’s rights: Towns and villages designed with women’s safety and needs in mind.
Rishadul cannot set up his own fundraising campaign (services such as GoFundMe do not work for those in the Global South). That is why I am collecting the donations and passing them on directly to him.
The total budget is $2,900 or 26,000 Swedish kronor:
Flights (Dhaka–Nairobi return): $1,850 (long journey, reputable airlines).
Accommodation (7 nights in a safe area near the UN): $700.
Miscellaneous: $350 (visa/ETA, yellow fever vaccine, food and safe transport).
Every penny counts! If we raise more than the target, every single cent will go directly to Rishadul’s ongoing work to improve the world.

Together, we can ensure that those hardest hit by the climate crisis are also given the power to influence and receive compensation from the countries that caused it. Thank you for your support! 💚
