Description
We areProject of Hope, a centre founded in 2015 by Aswani Kizito, which every day provides shelter, food, education and support to orphaned, abandoned and disabled children, as well as those from families in extreme hardship, in the Kawangware neighbourhood, one of the poorest in Nairobi.
Our work is rooted in faith in God.We believe that education, love and spiritual growth go hand in hand. Our children attend church daily, read the Bible and learn to build their lives with confidence, courage and hope. For us,faith is the key to healing and a better future.
Today,58 children urgently need our support to be able to continue their schooling.
To cover their school fees for the next three months, we needa total of €5,000– that is, around€86 per child.
In Kenya, although the Constitution guarantees free education, state schools still demand ‘hidden costs’: uniforms, textbooks, stationery, compulsory contributions and meals. These expenses, although unofficial, are essential requirements imposed by schools, and for children living in extreme poverty, they become an insurmountable barrier to education.
The new school term begins on 28 April, and without this money, many of the childrenwill not be able to return to school.
At Project of Hope, thanks to the daily efforts of our volunteers, we are able to providefree primary education, food, shelter and love for83 children living at the centre, and education fora further42 children from the community who come daily for lessons.
However,we do not have the resources or space to provide secondary education, and older children (aged between 11 and 17–18) must attend state schools, where they are required to pay these additional fees.
Behind this project is a man with an impressive life story.Aswani Kizitowas born in western Kenya, in extreme poverty. He grew up barefoot, without uniforms, without textbooks, without enough food—but with a dream: to study. Thanks to rare acts of kindness from strangers and an unshakeable faith in God, Aswani managed to finish school, obtain a university degree and a Master’s.
When his son,Prince, was born with cerebral palsy, Aswani gave up his career and devoted himself entirely to caring for him andcreating a home for other vulnerable children, just as he himself had once been.
Today, he runsProject of Hope with love and devotion, a place whereno child is left behind.
We know that, from a distance, this may seem like a distant problem, and that a small gesture may seem insignificant. But that is not the case.Every contribution, however small, can change the life of one of these children.
Please,if you can, help us build a better future for them.
Donate now and give the gift of education. Be the hope that guides them towards the future.
