Hello, my name is Mike, and I’m 23 years old.

Asking for help is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but I’ve reached a point where opening up about my struggles is the only way forward. At just 20, I made choices that led me into a dark place, including becoming addicted to snorting drugs. I reached a low moment in my life when I thought, “What could possibly get worse?”—and then it did. I now carry the heavy burden of over 20,000 euros (98,000 lei) in debt. While I’ve learned from my past, the financial weight is still holding me back.

My Story: It all started with a desire to embrace life and explore new experiences. However, I lost control and took out loans to maintain that lifestyle and help others around me. When the money ran out, so did many of those "friends." Now, the only people by my side are my boyfriend, my family, and my two lovely cats, who bring me comfort and joy during this challenging time.

I currently work in IT, which provides stability, but I struggle each month to cover my 2200-lei bank installments and 1000-lei rent, leaving me with barely enough for basic living expenses.

In the midst of all this, I had to abandon two college programs. The first was during the pandemic when I seized an opportunity in IT, and the second was due to exhaustion from my challenging circumstances. My dream is to return to college and rebuild my life once I am free of this debt.
