I am Nikos and Spartathlon will be the longest race I've ever stood on the starting line and it's the most special one for another reason. Τhis year I lost my aunt, a very beloved person, to cancer and I have decided to raise funds to help WinCancer to continue supporting everyone who fought or currently fighting cancer, raising awareness and providing a platform for expression and information.

Funds raised will go towards:

Supplying 4 public hospitals with indoor bike trainers

=> Attikon, General Hospital of Sparta, Ippokratio Thessaloniki, General Hospital of Ptolemaida

Redesigning and renovating the oncology clinic's waiting area

=> PAGNI, Heraklion, Crete

I guess everything started when a good friend invited me to run a marathon with him in Paris in 2019.

Six years down the line and I have participated in various marathons and ultra distance races whether on the road or on mountain trails. Inevitably, the pursuit to push myself and try to find my limits has never stopped to amaze me and I hope it will never wear off.

This brings us to the present where I was "lucky" enough to be drawn to run Spartathlon on September 27th, 2025. For anyone not aware of this event, this is a 247km race from Athens to Sparta to be completed within 36 hours with, of course, time limits at various checkpoints along the course, otherwise where's the fun without that?

My bib number is 202 - if you see me on the road come say hi or send your energy vibes virtually when you see that dot moving along the route :-)
