We are delighted to announce that the Gdynia Film Festival has donated 20,000 PLN to the In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation. These funds will be used to renovate the stage of Cinema Zdrowie, which was damaged during this year’s floods. Cinema Zdrowie holds a special place in history – it was here that Krzysztof Kieślowski watched his first films as a teenager, and it hosts the annual "Hommage à Kieślowski" film festival.
Thank you for your support in bringing this historic venue back to life!
* The Gdynia Film Festival supports the renovation of Cinema Zdrowie's stage in Sokołowsko as part of the campaign "FPFF joins the flood relief effort."

Description
Let’s Restore the Cinema "Zdrowie" After the Floods in Lower Silesia
Krzysztof Kieślowski—world-renowned auteur, creator of The Three Colours Trilogy and Dekalog—first fell in love with cinema as a young boy in the historic “Zdrowie” Cinema-Theatre in Sokołowsko. Now, this iconic place, integral to his artistic journey, needs your support to recover from recent flood damage.
Dear Friends and Supporters of the iconic “Zdrowie” Cinema-Theatre in Sokołowsko,
We urgently appeal for your help to save the historic “Zdrowie” Cinema-Theatre in Sokołowsko. Due to the recent floods, the orchestra pit has been flooded, and the stage—host to countless cultural events and renowned artists such as Jerzy Stuhr, Krystyna Janda, Jerzy Radziwiłowicz, Grażyna Szapołowska, Maria Pakulnis, Marzena Trybała, Magdalena Łazarkiewicz, Piotr Jaxa, Agnieszka Holland, and many others—has been severely damaged and needs immediate replacement.
It was here, in the “Zdrowie” Cinema-Theatre, that a young Krzysztof Kieślowski first watched films, much like the character in Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso. Sokołowsko, also famous from the novels of Olga Tokarczuk and Joanna Bator, is a place of inspiration and home to the Hommage à Kieślowski festival. We are deeply committed to ensuring that the 14th edition of this festival, dedicated to Kieślowski’s legacy, takes place without interruption in this unique location.
We must act now! Without your help, we cannot complete the necessary work:
Drying out the building and walls,
Removing damaged plaster,
Replacing the damaged, flooded stage,
Repairing the orchestra pit.
Every day, the condition of the cinema's stage worsens. We want to see the seats of the “Zdrowie” Cinema-Theatre filled once again in August 2025, allowing audiences to experience the magic of this place anew.
We believe that together we can make this happen. Every donation brings us closer to restoring the beauty of our historic cinema and to future gatherings with esteemed directors and actors. Help us restore the magic of this place and bring health back to “Zdrowie”!
