My name is Álvaro, I’m 19, and I never thought I’d have to write something like this.

A few months ago, my life changed completely. I lost my father, the person who supported our family and who always found a way to keep us going. Since then, everything has become an uphill struggle.

Now it’s just my mum and me. She does everything she can, and so do I. I work and study at the same time, trying not to give up, trying to keep us afloat... but the reality is that it’s not enough.

We recently received an eviction notice.

That piece of paper in my hands isn’t just a document. It’s the fear of losing our home. It’s the uncertainty of not knowing where we’ll sleep in a few weeks’ time. It’s seeing my mum worried every day and not being able to do anything more.

I’m not asking for luxuries.

I’m not asking for an easy life.

I’m just asking for a chance.

A chance to move forward, to not lose the little we have, to be able to breathe easy and keep fighting for a better future.

Every euro counts.
