Dear everyone

I have a 7-year-old autistic son who is my world, my everything, my world. Unfortunately, things aren’t going so well with his dad. It came to light 3.5 years ago that our little boy is autistic, which hasn’t affected me at all, as he’s still my son and I love him just as much as before, if not more… but his dad still hasn’t really come to terms with the situation. He pays him absolutely no attention; in fact, he often even gets on his father’s nerves, even though my little boy is a very lovable, cheerful lad with a lovely personality. He’s praised a lot at nursery and school for how clever he is and how well he performs. To me, it’s incomprehensible how a father can be so indifferent towards his own child. That isn’t even the biggest problem; rather, it’s that he drinks every day, and there are often times when he loses control and shouts, thrashes about, blackmails and threatens. So far, ‘fortunately’, he’s only terrorised me, but I’ve reached the point where I can’t take it any longer; our lives would be better off without him. That’s why I’ve turned to you for help. I’d like to cut off contact with the father and have him move out, but as I’m not working yet, I’m asking for help with that too. I also have a small business I’d like to start, and I’d like to support us from that in the future – I’d need help with that as well. I want to be able to raise my little boy as a single mum with dignity and honour, preferring to do so alone in peace and love rather than with a toxic father...
