Support the Noke Koi Family in the Amazon

Dear friends,

I am reaching out on behalf of Pajé Kochti Kamanawa, the oldest Romeya (True Healer) of the Noke Koi people, and his son Aroh Kamanawa, the cacique (leader) of Aldeia Toniya, a village deep in the Amazon rainforest (Acre, Brazil).

Together, they are initiating a humble but meaningful project: the construction of a guest house to host visitors, travelers, students and allies of their culture. We are raising €4,500 (around R$28,000) to make this vision a reality.

Why now?

On August 4th, Pajé Kochti has turned 95 years old. It was his birthday wish to build a new guest house to visitors arriving from neighboring villages and abroad.

🌿 Why this project matters

Currently, there is no dedicated space for visitors to stay. They sleep in shared spaces inside the village, often without privacy or comfort. To improve this, the community has already begun clearing land near the village, nestled in the serenity of the forest (see photos).

Follow the link below to watch a video where Pajé Kochti is presenting the space in the forest, where the Guest House will be built:

Pajé Kochti is presenting his vision for the Guest House in Aldeia Toniya 🌿

This guest house will provide:

 • Comfortable lodging for guests

 • A peaceful environment for cultural and spiritual exchange

 • A long-term source of income through eco-spiritual tourism

It will also mark a symbolic step for the Noke Koi people toward sovereignty and sustainability.

🌎 Opening their world to ours

Inspired by their neighbors, the Yawanawá people, the Noke Koi are beginning to welcome international visitors who wish to:

 • Learn about their spirituality and traditions

 • Experience the healing power of plant medicines

 • Study with the most respected elder in Acre

 • Participate in vivências (immersive cultural experiences) guided by the younger generation

This initiative is part of a larger vision: to build bridges between the forest and the world, through mutual respect, cultural sharing, and heart-centered alliances.

🌧️ The challenges they face

 • Due to colonization, territorial loss, and climate change, their traditional way of life as hunter-gatherers is no longer fully sustainable.

 • Supplies like rice or chicken for example must be purchased in São Vicente, a 6.5-hour boat journey (one way!)—fueling dependency and increasing costs.

 • Their main income locally, now comes from selling handmade crafts and Rapé, or hosting visitors—which makes infrastructure like this guest house essential.

🛠️ Project Budget – What will the funds be used for?

We are raising €4,500 (~R$28,000). Here is how the funds will be used:

Construction Labor (carpenters) R$16,900

Wood (boards, beams, milling) R$5,000

Fuel (boats & chainsaws) R$1,500

Materials (nails, oil, other supplies) R$1,000

Roofing (metal sheets) R$3,600

Total R$28,000
