🐾 Help Sonia Walk Again – A Lifeline for a Beloved Rescue Cat

For the past ten years, Sonia the cat has been living safely and lovingly in the home of one of our rescue group’s members on the island of Andros, Greece. She is not just a rescue – she is family.

Recently, Sonia started showing signs of pain and difficulty walking. Her condition rapidly worsened, and we knew she needed immediate veterinary help. She was transported to our trusted veterinary clinic in Athens, where she was diagnosed with a serious injury: a traumatic scapular avulsion, meaning her shoulder blade was detached due to trauma.

💔 Emergency surgery was the only option to save her leg and her ability to walk.

Thanks to our orthopedic surgeon, Sonia underwent a complex procedure to stabilize her shoulder. The scapula was secured surgically with bone tunnels and special sutures to attach it properly back in place. The surgery was successful, and Sonia is now in recovery.

Her veterinarian says:

> “Sonia is at my clinic now. Her leg is bandaged and it’s best to keep it that way until Thursday. After the bandage is removed, she can return to Andros and must remain in cage rest for six weeks to ensure full healing.”

🧾 The cost of the surgery was €600, a heavy financial burden for a small volunteer rescue team like ours.
