Description

Did you know that almost one in two children born abroad lose the ability to communicate in Polish for good?

At the Lachy Dla Świata Foundation, we refuse to accept that geographical distance should spell the end of Polish identity. We are currently conducting research which has yielded an alarming conclusion: as many as 40% of Polish parents abroad are unable to pass on the ability to use Polish fluently to their children on their own. Without professional support, these children lose their connection to Polish culture, their grandparents and their own roots.

Why us? Because we have proof that it works! We are not just theorists. Our work to date has yielded tangible results:

  • The school in Drogheda: We have created a place where, after lessons, children laugh, play and joke exclusively in Polish.
  • Successes of A-level students: Thanks to our online education, young Poles in Ireland are passing their Polish language A-levels with top marks, opening the door to their dream university courses.
  • Local initiatives: We are bringing initiatives that have proven successful in Poland – such as ‘Reading Break’ from Gorzów Wielkopolski – to an international level.

Our goal: 30,000 PLN / 7,000 €

This amount is the foundation that will allow us to devote three months to the foundation’s mission. Thanks to your support:

  1. We will produce a reliable academic report on the state of the Polish language abroad, to design our support more effectively.
  2. We will create and distribute digital resources for Polish community teachers, parents and pupils (including our original language challenges).
  3. We will launch the European Young Pole Club – a series of day camps and activities where the Polish language will become a language of adventure, not a chore.

The summer holidays are upon us – a time of intensive preparations for the new school year. We want to be ready to reach every Polish family in need of support by September.
