My name is Jimes de Souza. I am originally from Brazil, but I have been living in Spain for 27 years. I currently work in the logistics sector, and although I trained in mechanics and mechanical engineering, I have not been able to fully develop my career in those fields. However, I have always had a deep passion for education and a desire to teach, especially to the younger generation.
I am the father of two young children, and although I face personal challenges, such as being a separated father and the commitment to ensuring my children’s well-being, I feel that now is the time to take action on a project that can transform lives. This is how my dream was born: to create a language school in the jungle of Pucallpa, Peru. This project is not only of personal value to me, but is also deeply linked to my daughter, who was born in Lima, Peru, and to my desire to give something valuable back to this region that has had such a profound impact on me.
The school’s purpose is to offer children and young people in the jungle the opportunity to learn languages such as English, Portuguese, Italian, German and French, opening doors to a future full of opportunities. Access to quality education, particularly in foreign languages, can radically change young people’s futures, providing them with the tools to secure better jobs and enrich themselves culturally.
This will be a unique project, not only because it will serve children and young people in a rural area, but also because it will open the door to international collaboration. As a native Portuguese speaker, I speak Spanish and understand a little Italian, and my daughter has knowledge of Italian and German. My idea is that the school should also serve as a meeting point for those who wish to do their bit, by teaching their mother tongue to the children and young people in the community. People who speak German, Italian, French or English can join the project and play an active role in teaching, providing a unique cultural experience for everyone.
Initially, I will oversee the construction of the school on the land I own in Pucallpa, and over time, I hope it will become a vibrant space for learning and international collaboration. The funds I raise will go towards building the facilities, purchasing educational materials, and creating a suitable environment for language teaching.
In addition, I will invite German-, French-, Italian- and English-speaking volunteers to play an active role in the project, offering them accommodation and support whilst they contribute directly to the community’s education. My aim is for this project to be not just a school, but also a meeting point for different cultures wishing to make a difference in the world.
Every contribution will be a direct investment in the future of these children and young people, and your help will have a tangible impact on their lives. Together, we can offer them a future full of new opportunities, from better-paid jobs to the chance to connect with the world. This project is a call to all those who believe in the power of education and international cooperation to change the world.
I am deeply grateful for your time and consideration. I am available to provide further details about the project and how you can join this vital cause. Your support will be key to transforming the future of many children and young people in the Pucallpa jungle.
Yours sincerely,
Jimes de Souza
