“Moataz’s battle is both physical and mental: to survive hunger and danger, and to not give up on his dreams—your help can carry him forward.”

My name is Jeanette Gunnarsson, from Sweden, and I am organising this fundraiser for Al-Moataz Al-Najjar, a 28-year-old Palestinian accountant from Gaza, who has been struggling to survive for the past two years of endless war and suffering. I am writing this with deep urgency and worry for Moataz, in the hopes that kind hearts and generous people will help him.

Moataz is a beloved uncle to Hanan, Ahmad, and Lana, three children who have depended on his love and support. He has always cared for his extended family in every way he could, but today he is the one in desperate need of help.

Because of the war in Gaza, Moataz has lost his job, his savings, and the stability he worked so hard to build. Each day, he struggles to secure the most basic necessities, including food, clean water, and medicine. Beyond these physical challenges, he faces an equally heavy battle inside himself: the mental struggle to not give up on life, to not let despair win, and to keep believing that a better future is still possible.

Moataz dreams of continuing his education through a Master’s degree in Europe. He has the qualifications, the experience, and the determination to succeed, but he no longer has the financial means to act when the border crossing opens. We are working together to secure a scholarship at a European University. Our goal is to raise 5,000 euros so that he can cover essential survival needs now, while also saving what is required to travel when the opportunity finally comes. This support is not only about survival—it is about keeping his hope alive.

How the funds will be used:

• Immediate survival needs: food, clean water, and medicine
• Safe shelter and basic living expenses while still in Gaza
• Travel and visa costs when the border opens
• Initial costs for applications and preparation for scholarships in Europe

In Moataz’s own words:

“If you had asked me two years ago about my life, I would have spoken about my ambitions, my work as an accountant, and my plans to seek a better future. Today, my life is only about survival. I worry constantly that when the border opens, I will not be able to leave because I have no money left. I do not want my future to collapse because of this. I know that I can succeed if I am given the chance. Please help me hold on to hope.”
