I am 24 years old and, until August 2022, I led a perfectly normal life.
On 20 August 2022, whilst I was at work in a psychiatric facility, I was attacked by a patient, resulting in a severe head injury. This led to a diagnosis of axonal injury, an irreversible brain injury.
Within two years, after a great deal of treatment, I am returning to a ‘normal’ life despite the physical impairments left by the trauma, but the medical costs for treatment are still high, as are the challenges I face.
