Hello, my name is Alessandro, and I am organizing this fundraising campaign on behalf of Amadou, a dedicated psychiatric nurse from The Gambia. Amadou is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public health at Thammasat University in Thailand and has dedicated his career to improving mental health care in The Gambia, where mental health services face significant challenges.

Amadou has recently received an incredible opportunity to present his research paper, “The Prevalence and Risk Factors of Workplace Violence at the Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital in The Gambia,” at the prestigious International Council of Nursing (ICN) 2025 Congress in Helsinki, Finland. This event represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him to share insights into the mental health challenges in The Gambia, learn from global experts, and contribute to international discussions about workplace safety in psychiatric care. His ultimate goal is to help implement policies that reduce violence at the Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital, improving safety for both healthcare workers and patients.

In order to attend, Amadou must complete his registration by February 2025, which is necessary to apply for the visa to travel to Finland.
