I was merely a passenger in a car that was stopped by the police near Ružomberok. Despite this, I became the target of an intervention which, in my view, constituted a gross violation of my fundamental rights and human dignity.

Without explanation, without checking my identity and without informing me of my rights, the police ordered me to get out of the car and stand next to the vehicle with my hands resting on the bonnet. When I asked what I had done wrong, I received no answer.

In the rain and cold, I was held by the roadside for about 30 minutes and then spent another hour in the police car.

The hardest moment came next.

I was forced to strip naked in a public place by the main road, in full view of passers-by. Despite the fact that I offered no resistance, I was handcuffed and taken to the police station.

The case file also shows that there was no warrant or legal authorisation to carry out a body search on me. The file also contains further procedural errors and inconsistencies which, in my view, raise serious doubts about the legality of the entire procedure.

As the criminal proceedings are still ongoing, I cannot disclose all the details of the case.

I was held at the police station without being able to contact my family or a lawyer, and without water, food or basic amenities. It was only after more than five hours that I was told I was a suspect.

A few months later, I became the sole defendant.

The whole case has been dragging on for more than two years and has had serious consequences for my personal and professional life.

My 15-year marriage has broken down.

My relationship with my children has been damaged.

I have lost the trust of my loved ones and friends.

I have become the butt of jokes.

I have run into financial difficulties and for more than two years I have been unable to find work in my local area.

I am now in a situation where I no longer have the means to pay for further legal assistance or to meet my basic living expenses.

That is why I am asking for help.

I need the funds primarily for:

• filing lawsuits and complaints,
• protecting my rights,
• and covering basic living costs.
