Description
The only thing I have gained in life that I can hold onto as a memory, as a piece of something that has left a deep mark on me. It has had, and still has, an incredibly profound meaning for me, and to lose it would be to lose a part of myself. Life has been very cruel to me and I bear the scars on my soul, consequences I must carry with me forever. I want for my wife and son everything I never had; I want them never to have to go through what I did. I want something to remain after I’m gone. I was given the cottage as a gift, and my dream is to repair it myself, to do everything so that I can live there and spend the rest of my life there. It will be expensive, and it will take a long time before I can perhaps live out at least this dream. The only problem is that the cottage was passed on via my cousin due to a tragic accident that happened very suddenly, and my grandfather, who raised us in place of our fathers and was therefore the most important person in my life, died so unexpectedly from an unfortunate fall. And since the gift from my cousin is not tax-exempt, I now have to pay around 450,000 CZK; the exact amount will be determined after an expert valuation. I certainly do not have that sort of money and will not have it at present. Otherwise, I’ll have to sell the cottage, and that mustn’t happen. Please help. Once I’m back on my feet again, I’ll of course gratefully pass on this act of kindness to someone else who needs support and help. I could describe my harsh life in detail here – it’s literally like something out of a film, as it’s hard to believe it’s reality. But I don’t want to make myself out to be some kind of victim just to convince you. There are plenty of lives that have been accompanied by and met with misfortune and pain, and no one has offered them help, and some might even deserve it more. I’ll manage to scrape together some of the money myself, but I’m asking for the portion I need to get back on my feet, and I’ll hope that I can realise my dream of taking the next step towards decent housing so that I can finally feel at home and do something for myself and, above all, my family. You are giving me hope, and for that I thank you.
