As a parent, one of the hardest things is asking for help, but I’ll do anything for my little boy.

My little boy, Noel, was born prematurely at 33 weeks’ gestation. From the very moment he was born, he has been fighting a tremendous battle for his life.

After he was born, he had to be put on a ventilator; they tried to feed him via a tube, but his body wouldn’t accept the food – he was constantly vomiting – and he also needed blue light therapy. A week later, it turned out that the problem was even more serious. The neonatal ambulance immediately transported him to the Semmelweis University Clinic in Budapest.

There, it was discovered that her two kidneys were functioning at a combined rate of just 3 per cent. To this day, there is no precise diagnosis; all we know is that he is suffering from severe kidney failure and has polycystic kidney disease. They said they had never encountered a case like this before – his case is exceptional.

Noel’s condition was life-threatening. He required continuous, round-the-clock intravenous fluids, and then he also contracted a severe infectious enteritis. His stools were bloody; he spent days in the intensive care unit, was put on a ventilator, was unable to eat, and there was even a moment when his little heart stopped for a few seconds.

Since then, he has undergone several operations. He had a Hickman catheter fitted, and a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube inserted into his abdomen so that he could be fed.

She is now over a year old, but still weighs less than 7 kilograms. A kidney transplant can only take place once she reaches a body weight of 10 kilograms, so every single day is another struggle. Every day he is given eight different types of medication, requires special nutritional supplements, and we attend regular medical appointments.

That is why we are now turning to you for help.

Donations will be used to cover Noel’s medical treatment, medication, specialised nutritional supplements, the costs of regular trips to Budapest, and any other expenses that will help ensure he can eventually receive the life-saving kidney transplant.
