Description

Fundraising for the national Waldorf Alumni magazine

Introduction to the initiative:

This is the first national Waldorf Alumni magazine, edited by current and former Waldorf students.

The essence of our initiative can be captured in the fact that it is nourished by a spirit and imbued with a spirituality that, whilst personal, is also distinctly ‘Waldorf’. After all, it is about us; it brings our experiences and attitudes to life, and immerses readers in the atmosphere of our events. For us, Waldorf is not merely an educational institution, but a community of shared destiny whose life extends beyond the time spent at school.

This shared destiny not only determines what each of us takes with us from school into our lives beyond its walls, but also makes the members of this community responsible for ensuring that, through their actions outside school, they not only develop themselves but also strengthen the community from which they once set out.

Why are we asking for support?

We operate on a non-profit basis and do not intend to change this in the future.

At the same time, it has become clear to us that this initiative, including our further plans (podcast, audio newspaper, international edition), requires a full-time commitment, which we can only maintain at the standard we have upheld so far if (at least on the part of the editor-in-chief and web developers) we devote all our time, energy and attention to it.

In the free intellectual and cultural spheres, a livelihood is not guaranteed; creators must make it for themselves. The editors, writers and proofreaders of the journal must find a source from which to finance their operations, as they—and we—invest a great deal of time and energy into the creation of each issue.

We believe that there is an impulse present in the pedagogical and social practice of Waldorf schools that would benefit the world if it were not confined ‘within’ the schools, but could also manifest itself ‘outside’ them.

We do not believe that this magazine alone can represent this impulse, but the community’s cooperation is essential for creating other platforms so that we can realise it to a high standard, and to ensure that it remains accessible (free of charge) to everyone.

How can you support us?

In the spirit of ‘many small contributions add up to a lot’, we have calculated that we would need an annual contribution of 2,500 forints per household (including from graduates for whom this matters), which would cover our annual budget; however, we would of course be delighted to receive larger donations.

We ask all those who feel that what we stand for is necessary to support our initiative. Not because this alone will change the world – just as no single ‘fruit tree’ can feed the whole of humanity. But if we provide spiritual nourishment and a crutch to even one person, or awaken a thought within them, it will have been worth it.

Because the little things, the individual people and ideas, all add up. And one day, in the distant future – but even now – they may become a healing force in society.
