Description
HUMANITARIAN APPEAL – A mother and daughter are living in a caravan, in extremely difficult conditions
We present the case of a family facing great hardship: a mother and her daughter, a Year 10 pupil, who are currently living in a badly damaged caravan, covered with nothing more than plastic sheeting to protect them from the rain and wind. After the home they lived in was set on fire by the mother’s ex-husband (against whom there is a restraining order due to violence and alcohol-related issues), the two were left homeless. With no family support and no financial means, they took refuge in an old caravan, which does not provide even basic living conditions. Their only source of heating is a small electric heater. The space is very cramped and dilapidated, making it impossible to install a stove or any other safe heating system. In the depths of winter, the cold and damp are putting their health at risk.
