I wish I could bring good news, but unfortunately, things are becoming complicated again. The CT scan results still show the lungs slightly inflamed, as well as the presence of a nodule. This doesn’t necessarily mean it is something dangerous – the doctor told us it could be a result of the period when my mother had that severe pneumonitis. Still, we are very scared.

The doctor said it will be kept under observation, but that means we will only know more at the next CT scan, around November.

Regarding her cancer treatment, my mother is continuing with letrozole. The doctor mentioned that if her progress is good, in the future she might be prescribed tamoxifen instead of verzenios. Normally, these medications are given together, but the doctor said my mother’s body is too weak for that.

Her peripheral neuropathy keeps getting worse, and it’s truly awful. However, we managed to see an orthopedic doctor, and after many tests, we found out that her knee and back problems actually originate from her foot. Left untreated, this has led to stage 2 gonarthrosis and other complications. For now, we bought special footwear and orthopedic insoles, although unfortunately they help very little with the pain.

She has been scheduled for knee replacement surgery on both knees, but the earliest available date is in two years. Until then, other treatments will be tried, the doctor mentioned an injection that cost around €300 per knee and surgery will remain the last option. I hope it won’t come to that.

On top of this, the extra weight gained due to letrozole and her period on corticosteroids makes her condition even harder to manage, and the effects of corticosteroids can remain in the body for years.
