Hello again,

I wanted to share a short update regarding my mother’s condition.

This week, she was finally able to have her CT scan done. However, the results will only be available at the end of June, or possibly early July, depending on when her doctor returns. They did tell us that if they find something very serious, they will call us earlier. I hope the results will be good and it won’t come to that.

The good news is that my mother is no longer taking codeine, and the pain in her lung area has become more manageable. She also hasn’t returned to corticosteroids. The cough still persists and she gets tired very easily, but it’s not as bad as it used to be. I am sure there is still something with her lungs, I really hope that this time it will show up clearly on the CT scan, unlike last time when all they saw was a vague "white spot."

On the downside, her peripheral neuropathy has gotten worse. She now experiences severe pain from the knees down and can barely walk. That scares me, because it happened while she was taking many medications that were supposed to prevent this from happening. On top of that, she has gained a lot of weight I think from letrozole and also from the period when she was on corticosteroids. I don’t remember if I mentioned this before, but when she had extremely high blood pressure, we had to go to the cardiologist urgently. He told us that the effects of corticosteroids can remain in the body for years.

I’ll most likely write another update toward the end of June, once we have the CT results and know more about what needs to be done next. We’re also considering changing her oncologist if there is still no replacement for Verzenios, or if the doctor remains unavailable when patients need to talk. I didn’t want to mention this here, but honestly, the communication between doctor and patient has been very disappointing.
