Hi everyone. I’m back with an update, though unfortunately, it’s not the news we were hoping for. The cancer has spread, so the doctors took more blood tests and did a biopsy on that lymph node under her arm. The good part is that the nodule is very small, but the situation is still very alarming, especially since the nodules in her lungs are growing.

Based on the results, they tried to get my mom into a clinical trial for a personalized treatment, but her cancer doesn't have that specific genetic mutation, so she didn't qualify.

For now, she has started a general treatment with Ibrance and Fulvestrant (palbociclib + Faslodex). She is in her first week. The schedule is pretty tough: she takes pills for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break, plus injections (every two weeks at first, and then once a month).

Since everything is so recent, we don't know yet if she will be able to stay on this treatment or how she will react long-term; we will only see this at her next CT scan, scheduled in 3 months. Right now she is very nauseous and feels sick, but the doctors told us this is a normal reaction at the beginning of the treatment. I understand she might actually feel worse during those 7 days when she is off the pills. If anyone has been on this treatment, please message me privately with your experience, I would love to hear about it.

Our biggest hope is that, at some point, she will be accepted into a clinical trial to get personalized treatment, but right now there are no spots available. We will probably try reaching out to other clinics as well; I am still new to this journey and I don't really know what to do or how to do it.
