❤️ Help Denis have a pain-free future

Hello, my name is Elena and I am Denis’s mum.

Denis is 13 years old. He is a cheerful and sensitive boy who loves to dance, swim, go to shows, laugh and enjoy all the things that make childhood wonderful.

Denis also suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), a rare genetic condition that requires lifelong medical care and complicates the treatment and surgical procedures he needs.

A few weeks ago, our family received news that changed everything: Denis was diagnosed with severe scoliosis, with two curves in his spine measuring 66° and 37° respectively.

We were hoping there might be a way to avoid surgery, but following a specialist’s assessment, we were told that Denis needs spinal surgery.

As parents, finding out that your child needs such a major operation is something you’re never prepared for. But we know we must do everything we can to give Denis the best possible chance — to prevent his scoliosis from getting worse, to help him live pain-free, and to allow him to continue doing the things he loves.

Before the operation, Denis must undergo all the necessary medical investigations, including an MRI, a CT scan, a polysomnography and any additional tests requested by his medical team. Based on these results and taking into account the Prader-Willi syndrome he suffers from, the doctors will determine the safest and most appropriate surgical option for him.

We have now received the official quote from the hospital.

The cost of the operation is estimated at 138,000–163,000 RON, depending on the surgical option chosen following the investigations. The cost of the implants is estimated at approximately 35,000 RON, and that of the pre-operative investigations at approximately 15,000 RON.

Consequently, the total medical costs could amount to approximately 213,000 RON (approximately 43,000 € or 50,000 USD), excluding any other potential expenses related to treatment and recovery.

This is a sum that our family cannot cover from our own resources, which is why we are asking for your help.
