Description
This year, the second session of the synod on synodality will be held in Rome. During the global consultations from all countries and continents, calls were heard for equality for women, the diaconate for women and an appreciation of women's vocations and service in the Church. However, this year's working document puts aside the issue of the diaconate, speaks of equality in generalities and announces nothing concrete. We know that patriarchy (also in the Church) is too strong to let go without a fight. That is why women's Catholic organisations are planning a series of events, demonstrations and activities in Rome during the synod in October. We will be reminding that women are more than half of the Church and cannot be discriminated against, we do not accept this.
As the TEKLA association, which empowers women, girls and gals in the Church, we will be there too! We would like to be able to invite other Catholic women from Poland to these events, covering part of the cost of the trip. We are going to make a ruckus, rip our throats out, act and demonstrate. We need a bigger team to make these actions visible. Besides, at TEKLA we know how much joy, motivation and strength for further feminist struggles in the Church come from these international meetings.
Do you want women's equality in the Church to be a topic of discussion at the synod in October? Support our expedition!
P.S. We are an association founded by Polish Catholic women, registered in Belgium (because some of us live here) and working to strengthen women, girls and girls in the Church (especially in the Polish context and in Polish).
