Project: Realisation of Small-Cylinder Engines for Self-Production and Combustion of Hydrogen

Description:

This project aims to develop small displacement engines, such as those used in motorbikes, scooters and light vehicles, using hydrogen as the primary fuel. The main objective is to design an innovative system that integrates the on-site production of hydrogen through electrolytic cells and its direct combustion in the engine, reducing the environmental impact and promoting the use of sustainable energy sources.

Main features:

  1. Conversion of existing engines:
  2. Adaptation of conventional internal combustion engines to run on a mixture of air and hydrogen, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  3. On-site hydrogen production:
  4. Implementation of a compact electrolysis system mounted directly on the vehicle, capable of producing hydrogen using water and power supply from a battery or small integrated generator.
  5. Bubbler system:
  6. Use of a water-filled filter that acts as a bubbler to separate any impurities and ensure safe hydrogen flow before combustion.
  7. Environmental sustainability:
  8. By eliminating fossil fuels, CO₂ emissions are reduced, helping to reduce environmental impact. The only by-product of combustion is water vapour.
  9. Versatile applications:
  10. The project is designed for engines up to 125 cc ( for now ), making this technology accessible and scalable for vehicles such as scooters, light motorbikes and microcars.

Project objectives:

  • Demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of a small displacement hydrogen engine.
  • To promote more sustainable mobility in urban and peri-urban areas.
  • To create an innovative platform for future large-scale hydrogen applications.

Expected impact:

The project offers a concrete solution for zero-emission mobility in cities, representing an important step towards energy transition and reduction of dependence on fossil fuels.

Project: Development of Small-Displacement Engines with On-Site Hydrogen Production and Combustion

Description:

This project aims to develop small-displacement engines, such as those used in motorbikes, scooters, and lightweight vehicles, that utilise hydrogen as their primary fuel. The main objective is to design an innovative system that integrates on-site hydrogen production through electrolysis cells and its direct combustion in the engine, reducing environmental impact and promoting the use of sustainable energy sources.

Key Features:

  • Conversion of existing engines:
  • Adapting traditional internal combustion engines to operate with a mixture of air and hydrogen, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • On-site hydrogen production:
  • Implementation of a compact electrolysis system directly mounted on the vehicle, capable of producing hydrogen using water and powered by a battery or a small integrated generator.
  • Bubbler system:
  • Use of a water-filled filter acting as a bubbler to separate any impurities and ensure the safety of the hydrogen flow before combustion.
  • Environmental sustainability:
  • The elimination of fossil fuels helps reduce CO₂ emissions, contributing to lower environmental impact. The only byproduct of combustion is water vapour.
  • Versatile applications:
  • The project is designed for engines up to 125 cc (for now), making this technology accessible and scalable for vehicles such as scooters, lightweight motorbikes, and microcars.

Project Objectives:

  • Demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of a small-displacement hydrogen engine.
  • Promote more sustainable mobility in urban and suburban areas.
  • Create an innovative platform for future large-scale hydrogen applications.

Expected Impact:

The project offers a concrete solution for zero-emission mobility in cities, representing a significant step towards the energy transition and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
