A heartfelt appeal: help us Give Amberly a fighting chance for her recovery.
Dear friends, family and kind hearts.
Our daughter Amberly's life was turned upside down the morning of April 29, 2024. On her way to school in Mġara (Malta) she was hit by a taxi, a tragic accident that stopped her young heart. Thanks to the heroic efforts of Policeman Italo and paramedics , Amberly was revived with artificial respiration but our lives have never been the same since.
Amberly, who once brightened every room with her bright smile and kind soul, spent weeks in a coma and endured eight long months in the hospital. Today she is in a state of minimal consciousness, trapped in a body that cannot express the living spirit we know is still within her. She urgently needs an intensive neurorehabilitation programme to regain her life - a programme that is not available in Malta.
We found a glimmer of hope at Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, where specialists can provide the care Amberly desperately needs. However, the six weeks of treatment provided by Mater Dei Hospital is not enough. Doctors in Italy are adamant: Amberly needs constant rehabilitation to have a real chance of recovery. The cost of this necessary treatment, combined with the cost of travel and accommodation, is prohibitive for our family.
I had to quit my job to be by Amberly's side every step of the way, and while we would give anything for her, we can't do it alone.
